From seeing the trailer I’m getting a kind of ‘Friday’ feeling but with a British twist. It’s good to see a UK produced film, goodtimes!! March 18th!!

Jessie J – Price Tag

January 30th, 2011

Jessie J!! First we had Do It Like A Dude, and now Jessie J has dropped the latest video for one of her tracks ‘Price Tag.’ I really like this track, something much more chilled in comparison, and it’s featuring B.O.B! Definitely a nice feature, especially after hearing the acoustic version of this track a while ago! I’m looking forward to her album!!! Jessie J is gonna take over!!

Official Mixtape Award Nominations 2011

Official Mixtape Awards 2011 Launch The Website

Last night, the nominees for the Official Mixtape Awards were announced. After last year’s relatively large-scale awards show (featuring Wiley, Bashy, Sway and others as performers) 2011’s promises to be just as grand, after Youneek’s own, Chiino, went to the Nominations Party. From the Grime scene’s breakthrough artists and veterans (from Marger, Fugitive and Rival through to Big Narstie, Manga and J2K) to the stars of the immerging Road Rap scene (Krept & Konan and Fumin) the event’s attendees were amongst the top in the UK. If it wasn’t Lioness you were bumping into, it was Donatella or 1Xtra’s Vis.

Just as the year prior, the nominations for 2011’s OMAs were read through by Ras Kwame and Kele Le Roc (below) and were assisted by notable live performances from No Lay, Mystro and Kozzie. Although not everyone was happy, Don Strapzy and Maxsta won’t be displeased with four nods each. They lead the pack and even stand ahead of innovators such as Ghetts, Sway and the Newham Generals.

Although the guestlist (more of a wishlist) didn’t end up producing top names like Wiley, Skepta and Kano at the nominations party, what’s to be found at the OMAs itself is yet to be known. The night was a huge one and sets the foundations for another occasion designed to highlight the efforts of UK’s urban music, at the grassroots level.

Chase & Status – Hitz (feat. Tinie Tempah)

January 13th, 2011

Today, the latest song from Cambridge Drum & Bass duo, Chase & Status was revealed. Featuring South London rap hit maker, Tinie Tempah, “Hitz” takes C&S away from their usual D’n’B and Dubstep with a Hip Hop banger. With the MC’s recent collaborations with JLS, Kelly Rowland and the Swedish House Mafia, the platinum-selling artist is now the go-to-guy for a banger and (based on the quality of this one) has the potential to match the success of their collective chart smashers, “Pass Out”, “Hypest Hype” and “Blind Faith”.

Chase & Status – “Hitz” Feat. Tinie Tempah

“Hitz” is expected to be included on Chase & Status’ “No More Idols” album, out on the 31st January 2011.
